Those Are Them: Episode One

I mentioned these guys yesterday in my post about bands to check out, so now for the full review. The band formed in 2011 in Canada in a basement with only three members, fusing together influences from  metalcore, rock and dup-step, the quickly recruited another couple of members to become a five piece. They started rehearsing and writing in order to play their first show in January 2012, along with a self produced demo, the band started to gain a following in the home country and online. Skip forward to 2013 and the release of their debut ‘Episode One’ an all together great effort for a group of guys that have only been together for a couple of years, recorded with the enthusiasm and chemistry you’d expect to hear from seasoned pro’s, the band seem to leave no stone unturned with the first release, setting the bar quite high for a follow up, but it’s a bar the band should easily be able to beat, and keep on beating for a while to come. With song titles that can come across as slightly odd at times (‘Brightly Coloured V-Necks’ and ‘We’re A Phil Collins Cover Band’) it can come across as anyone’s guess as to what to expect from them, but you can expect this: five guys with passion for their craft and a determination to prove they belong in the ever changing metal scene, after sharing the stage with bands like: Architects, Structures, A Sight For Sewn Eyes, Blind Witness, Betrayal and more it’s hard to say they don’t belong. A must listen for fans of: The Ghost Inside, Silent Civilian. Those Are Them are made up of: Tyler Donovan – Vocals, Daylan Anderson – Guitar, Khalid Hamir – Bass/Vocals/Keys, Brayden Campbell – Drums, Colin Mitchell – Guitar. And together they are a force to be reckoned with and they will take the metal world by storm, if you haven’t listened to them yet, the link below contains the track ‘We’re A Phil Collins Cover Band’ plus the link to their full EP on iTunes. Check them out and support them as they continue to provide us with great music and grow as artists
